Five stages
From New Friend to Family
Each stage needs two things: enough meaningful time together, and enough different days. You can't rush a bond in one long session, and missing a day never takes anything away.

Curious but a little shy. Your pet comes over to play and asks for food or a brush when it needs one.

Your pet recognises you, greets you when you arrive and asks you for games of fetch or Pounce Patrol.

More affection. Your pet asks for pets and cuddles and leans toward the games and treats it loves.

Warmer greetings, it brings you the ball on its own, and you can ask it to sit together with you.

A special greeting and resting pose, it seeks you out when you wander off, and rare, tender moments.
What builds your bond
Only real care counts. A few seconds of gentle petting, a calm carry around the room, a meal from your hand, a finished brushing session, a ball you threw and your pet brought back, a round of Pounce Patrol or a Guardian run you survived together. The first time you do something each day counts most, so a little of everything beats one activity on repeat.
Their favourite spot
Every pet has a favourite place to be stroked, such as the chin, the head, the back, the belly or the tail, and one place it would rather you didn't touch. Find the sweet spot and your pet melts into your hand. Touch the no-go spot and you'll get a grumble and a few steps away. Even the best of friends need a break now and then, and the closer you are, the longer your pet enjoys a cuddle.
Reunions
Away for a couple of days? Your pet notices. Independent cats may play hard to get until you crouch down or offer a hand, while others run straight over, overjoyed.
Memories
Your firsts are saved with their date: the first meal, the first fetch, the day you found their favourite food. Open the Bond page from your hand menu to look back.
A pet with wishes of its own
Your pet doesn't just wait for you. It stretches, naps in its favourite corner, looks out of the window and has sudden zoomies. When it needs something, it comes over, sits and shows a little bubble: a bowl when it's hungry, a brush when its fur needs care, a heart when it wants comfort, or a ball when it wants to play. Answer the wish and your bond grows. Ignore it and nothing bad happens: your pet simply asks again later.
One bond per pet
Each of the 8 pets has its own Bond Journey, likes and memories. Switching pets never resets anyone, so you can be Family with Tobby while you're still getting to know your Shiba.
